By now you know I love participating in styled shoots (with professionals I love to work with, of course). Lane' at Something Borrowed contacted me about providing paper goods for an "elegant garden" styled shoot– she was going for an elegant, timeless and classic look with more neutral/earthy colors (navy, cream, some gold and brown). I had recently been researching vintage botanical prints for a client, and thought that would be a fun way to incorporate some color but still keeping the overall feel neutral by adding a wood engraved overlay. In honor of this great day in Oregon, I wanted to share our dear friends wedding invitations from a few summers ago. When the grooms told me the plan to incorporate inspiration from their favorite movie, Amélie, into their wedding, a lovely image popped into my head– the garden gnome!! The invitation was an accordion fold complete with a gnome silhouette and their amazing engagement photos (taken by Brandon Witzel), and closed between two wood engraved coasters (how fun when the invitation can be used by guests?!) The invitation set, bound in blue satin ribbon, sat upon a bed of wood excelsior, and was enclosed and shipped in a square box. Not only did I have the great honor of designing their wedding invitations, but was also a participant in the ceremony.
It was a gorgeous August day under beautiful trees in a secluded hazelnut orchard in Aurora, Oregon. The ceremony was so well-written, meaningful, and full of love. This lovely, fun bunch of people below were so happy to participate in the wedding of two incredible people! Thanks W+M for inviting John and I play such an important role in your amazing wedding. This shoot with Petalos and Erich McVey was definitely one of my favorites (wait, don't I say that about every shoot? Maybe it's true– I work with some amazing people around here!) Stephanie from Petalos had a vision: soft pastels, watercolor details, natural surroundings, and two gorgeous brides. I loved helping bring it all to life.
